UPDATE: And the winner is….Fairfield!
Fairfield was the big winner in our poll with 23 percent of the vote, followed by Milford with 14 percent. The town is known for its beaches and waterfront spots, including Jennings Beach and Penfield Beach.
USA Today held a contest to find the best coastal towns in the United States, and one Connecticut town has made the final 10. Mystic, a small town of 4,205 people, competed against seaside communities across the country for a spot on the “Readers’ Choice 10 Best Coastal Small Towns” list, and it landed at number six.
But we want to know what you think is the best coastal town in southwestern Connecticut. For this installment of “Best Of,” we’re asking readers to think ahead to summer and pick the best local town for basking in the sun, taking a boat out or just gazing out at the Long Island Sound.
